Drilling Rig Open House

The next day as we were heading out toward Niagara Falls, Terry came over the CB to talk about a "drilling rig open house" just ahead in the village of Rainham Centre. The local folks had reconstructed an old oil drilling rig (in that area they only had to go down a thousand feet) and also had a collection of old tractors, some old cars, a couple old gas engines cooled by reservoirs that needed to be refilled every hour or so. Best of all for Clara, they were serving home-made country lunch, pie and ice cream, fudge, cheesecake – the works.

The other thing they had there was a pumpkin/cabbage cannon powered by compressed air. Man did that pumpkin fly!

But, of course, my biggest chuckle came from the text display by the old drilling rig -- you'll have to see it to believe it!
